The members of the Ottawa West – Nepean Green Party riding elect a candidate to run for a seat for the Provincial or Federal Green Party from a slate of candidates that is presented to them.
A candidate has to be a member in good standing for at least 30 days.
Once nominated to run for the party in an election, a candidate needs to organise signatures to present to Elections Ontario or Elections Canada, set up a team and find a treasurer to keep track of all the sources of income and expenses. Many candidates also set up their own website.
